Carpenter

JOB SUMMARY:
Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures with wood or light gauge steel members; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, rafters, stairways, window and door frames, and sheathing. Install interior trim work with wood and composite materials; running and standing trims, commercial doors and hardware, cabinet assemblies and hardware accessories. May also install siding, drywall, and batt or roll insulation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with employees concerning work orders, prints, and sketches to understand the structure that needs to be built or repaired.
  • Estimates equipment, tool, and material requirements for each job.
  • Builds, dismantles, and repairs structures, walls, roofs, glass, and siding as assigned.
  • Operates all necessary tools to complete a job.
  • Prepares and dismantles scaffolding as needed.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • May perform painting as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all related tools and equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to draw accurate sketches to communicate the specifications for projects.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Must be willing and able to travel in and out of state.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures.
  • Previous work-related skills, knowledge, and/or experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to squat, lift, stretch, and bend to reach all areas of the facility.
  • Must be able to work in and on overhead structures, as well as below machinery.
